Most Popular Types of Curtains
Beautifully decorated windows bring joy to the residents of the home. By choosing a certain type of curtains, fabrics and colors, we create a mood. Modern materials and designs make it possible to create a harmonious composition of the premises. In this article we will tell you about the most popular types of curtains.
Popular Types of Curtains
Straight curtains
The straight type of curtains is the most widespread. Usually it is a set of dense curtains and light curtains, fixed vertically on the cornice. This combination of fabrics adds the effect of voluminous drapery. Plain fabrics in gray-beige, brown, chocolate or gray tones are especially popular. To such curtains, you can also include those with different patterns, whether it is flowers, or geometry, or even some bright plain color of the fabric, which is an accent and it is combined with a calm shade of the main curtain.
Classic curtains on grabs
Classic curtains are mainly ordered from such fabrics as velvet, satin or velveteen. Often in classic interiors, we use a working and decorative curtain. The decorative one has a fringe trim, popularly called tassels, and the working curtain closes the window. You can combine 2 colors of fabrics, the main one is lighter, and the decorative one is darker. The decorative curtain is picked up on a grab, which can be decorated with fringe, or on a tassel. They are attached to the holders.
Another option for classic curtains is to decorate them with lambrequins, but this design is less relevant today.
Roman blinds
These are curtains that are sewn to the size of the opening or to the window frame itself. They rise upwards, controlled by a chain or cord mechanism, forming folds. Such curtains can be sewn from fabric in one canvas, or double, when both the curtain and the tulle are on one mechanism. If we are talking about designer curtains, then they are so interesting that they are already like a work of art. The designer selects several types of fabrics and combines them, depending on the style and preferences of the client. Such curtains are interesting and individual.
We recommend using Roman blinds in cases where there is a small area of the room, when you do not plan to hang classic curtains, but only tulle, or when you just like them.
Roller blinds
Their essence is the same as that of Roman blinds, but they are wound on a shaft, therefore they are called roller blinds. We mainly use plain fabrics. This type of curtain is often used as additional protection against fading of the main curtains or furniture in the room. For example, roller blinds can darken the room by 30%, you close them during the day and direct sunlight no longer gets on furniture, floors or other valuables.
Japanese curtains
They consist of panels covered with fabric. They have no folds and move along guides. Japanese curtains are hung on a cornice and fall in even folds.
Austrian curtains
In their normal position, they are a long canvas gathered at the bottom with beautiful ruffles. If you pull the ribbons, the structure turns into a short curtain with beautiful folds. Austrian curtains are mainly sewn from light fabrics, they fit better into folds.
Cafe curtains
These are short and light, mostly tulle curtains. They are ideal for small windows, small rooms, bathrooms or toilets. They are mounted directly on the window frames and look romantic and cozy.
There are a lot of types of curtains, combinations of fabrics, colors and textures. It is important to choose the right color scheme, skillfully combine fabrics of different textures and styles that suit your home, so it is extremely valuable and important when the curtain designer chooses the best option for you. This will save you time and you will be happy with the result.
