Alison Gee (Alison Gee), chief designer of MORRIS & Co., explains the reasons for the innovations: “Given the current trend towards simplification and a return to the roots, we decided it was time to look at the iconic Morris patterns from a new perspective. With this, we turned to the archives, where we found monochrome patterns and wallpapers printed using various techniques, including the use of crushed glass and metallic paints. We found the original patterns created using hand-stitched William Morris wallpaper patterns, managed to restore some and, together with the highly skilled craftsmen of our wallpaper factory, came up with several new products for this collection. It was an exciting creative process of playing with colors and prints, resulting in several new variations of well-known patterns that were completely preserved. Originally, Morris patterns were a reaction to the lush floral decor of the Victorian era. In terms of decoration, we hope that the variations will be as warmly received as DAISY (the first printed Morris pattern) was in its day, and open us up to a new audience. This is Morris for modern life."

The wallpaper and fabric collection includes eight types of wallpaper, three of which are designed using the hand stenciling technique mentioned above, while the rest are repainted with intricate detailing to convey the nature of the original pattern. The scale also changed, which made it possible to give liveliness to the collection.

Air curtain fabrics created from archival documents, many of which served as the artistic basis for the wallpaper, sway in the wind, catching the sun's rays and casting magical whimsical shadows throughout the room.
